They are the style where you can take the heel cover off to reveal a gold coloured heel. I wore the purple ones all day with the cover on and the black ones to go out in at night with no cover on and in all honesty, my feet didn't hurt one little bit. They are a great investment for shoes that are the ultimate in comfort, highly recommend them to anyone. I'm not usually a shoe person but thanks to Rakish Heels that has all changed.
